2. This website at a glance

This website (joyfultherapie.de) is a static informational page. The only form of our own is the newsletter sign-up (see section 9). Without your consent, no cookies are set and no analytics services are loaded. If you consent to analytics, Google Analytics sets cookies and records your visit pseudonymously (see section 6).

3. Hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Vercel's EU representative is EDPO, Avenue Huart Hamoir 71, 1030 Brussels, Belgium. We have a data processing agreement with Vercel under Art. 28 GDPR. When you visit the site, Vercel automatically processes technical access data (e.g. IP address, timestamp, file requested) in server logs. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (operation and security of the website).

4. Fonts (webfonts)

This website uses the fonts Fraunces and Inter. The font files are hosted locally on our own server and are delivered directly from there when the page loads. There is no connection to Google Fonts or any other external font provider, and no data is transmitted to third parties as a result.

5. Cookie consent

On your first visit, we show a cookie banner with the options "Accept all" and "Customize settings". We store your choice locally in your browser (localStorage, key "joyful-consent") so we don't have to ask again on every visit. This entry is technically necessary and cannot be disabled; the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

6. Analytics

Only if you consent via the cookie banner do we load two analytics services. The legal basis for both is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer; from the moment you withdraw, no further data is collected.

Vercel Web Analytics. The service sets no cookies of its own and creates no user-related profiles — only aggregated, non-personally identifiable metrics (e.g. page views, country of origin) are collected.

Google Analytics 4. Provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics stores cookies on your device and processes, among other things, the pages you open, the time and duration of your visit, your approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address), the device and browser you use, and where your visit came from. Google truncates the IP address within the EU and does not store it in full. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Google.

Data may be transferred to servers of Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023). Despite that decision, access by US authorities cannot be entirely ruled out. By giving your consent you expressly agree to this transfer (Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR). For more information see Google's privacy policy. You can additionally prevent collection using Google's browser add-on.

7. External sign-up form (Google Forms)

The "Be the first tester" button leads to a form provided by Google Forms, operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Data you enter there (e.g. your e-mail address) is governed exclusively by Google's own privacy policy. We receive the submitted responses in order to invite interested people to test access for the Joyful app; the legal basis is the consent given by submitting the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Transmission to Google takes place outside our control — you can find information on Google's data processing in Google's own privacy policy.

8. Contacting us by e-mail

If you contact us by e-mail, we process the information you provide (sender address, message content) exclusively to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

We use the double opt-in procedure for the newsletter. After you sign up we send you an email containing a confirmation link. Only once you click that link do we add your address to the newsletter. If you do not confirm, you receive no emails from us and we delete the signup after 30 days.

Data processed: your email address, the language you chose, the time of signup and of confirmation, the IP address used for each, and the wording of the consent you agreed to. We store the timestamps, IP address and wording solely in order to be able to demonstrate the consent — Art. 7(1) GDPR obliges us to do so.

Legal basis is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, in Germany, § 7(2) no. 2 UWG.

Withdrawal: You can withdraw your consent at any time, without giving reasons — most easily via the unsubscribe link at the end of every newsletter email, or by writing to hallo@joyfultherapie.de. Withdrawal takes effect for the future and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out until then.

Retention: After you unsubscribe, your address is no longer used for sending. We do keep a record of the signup and the unsubscribe for as long as that is needed to demonstrate the original consent and to prevent your address being added again without fresh consent. You can request full deletion at any time at the address above.

Sending provider: Emails are sent via Resend (Resend, Inc., USA). Resend processes the email address and the sending metadata solely on our behalf; a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place. Where data is transferred to the USA, this is based on the EU standard contractual clauses under Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR or — where Resend is certified — on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework under Art. 45 GDPR.

Where signups are stored: The signups themselves are held in our database at Supabase (see the hosting and app sections). We do not track whether you open the newsletters or click links in them.

10. Job applications

If you apply for one of our open roles, we process the data you send us: name, contact details, cover letter, CV, work samples and the content of our correspondence. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR together with § 26(1) BDSG (deciding whether to enter into an employment relationship).

Recipients: Materials reach us by email and are read only by the people involved in the selection decision. They are not passed on to third parties. If you book a conversation via the scheduling link, the data needed for that is processed by Calendly (Calendly LLC, USA); the link leads to an external site governed by their own privacy notice.

Retention: If we do not end up working together, we delete the materials no later than six months after the process ends. That period exists to defend against possible claims under the German General Equal Treatment Act (AGG). If you would like us to keep your application longer for future roles, we need your explicit consent for that — which you can withdraw at any time. You can also ask for immediate deletion at any point.

Please do not send us special categories of personal data (Art. 9 GDPR) such as information about health, religion or trade union membership unless it is necessary for the application. Disclosing a disability is voluntary.

11. The Joyful app itself

This privacy policy covers only the website joyfultherapie.de. For the Joyful app (japp.joyfultherapie.de), including registration, your user account, and in-app data, the separate privacy policy provided when you create an account in the app applies.

12. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, and restrict the processing of your personal data, a right to object to processing, and a right to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact hallo@joyfultherapie.de. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
